Biden Heaps Praise on Nancy Pelosi

In the midterm elections, Republicans successfully took back the majority in the House of Representatives.

Many polls and much political data showed this would happen; however, Democratic leadership, like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, dismissed the odds of a GOP House victory. Yet, this victory occured, meaning that Pelosi will no longer be House Speaker.

Many Americans therefore wondered whether or not Pelosi would run for the default leadership role for the Democratic minority in the House. However, Pelosi announced earlier this week that she would not do this.

Instead, Pelosi will serve as just another Democratic member of the House, thereby allowing another one of her party members to lead the caucus.

Amid this news, Joe Biden did not hesitate to heap praise onto one of his greatest allies in Congress, per Breitbart News.

Biden on Pelosi Stepping Down From Leadership in Congress

Since the president took office last year, Pelosi has repeatedly gushed about how wonderful she believes he is.

This week, Biden opted to return the favor. It is the president’s view that Pelosi embodies “dignity” and someone who will go down as one of the most “consequential” House Speakers.

Additional remarks from Biden heralded Pelosi as a history-maker and someone who he’s seen working throughout his various roles in the federal government. Furthermore, the president made a point of stating that Pelosi would always be a defender of democracy.

The Other Side of the Coin

Many Americans will not agree with the glowing remarks Biden shared about Pelosi.

Critics of the outgoing House Speaker sounded against the policies she championed during her time as a House leader. It is for this reason that conservatives are looking forward to a Republican taking the mantle of House Speaker.

While Pelosi announced her decision not to run for a leadership position in the chamber, she spoke on the House floor for roughly 45 minutes.

During this time, Pelosi went into her own history that led to her becoming House Speaker, along with her experience as a congressional leader for so many years.

A notable part of Pelosi’s speech arrived when she talked about the various presidents she’s worked with. While leaving out Trump, Pelosi shared fond words for former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.

During the Trump administration, Pelosi notoriously butted heads with the now-former president. Dislike between the pair is very much mutual and clear for all to see.

What do you make of Joe Biden’s response to Nancy Pelosi stepping down from her leadership role in the House of Representatives? Which Democrat do you believe will be next to lead the minority caucus in the chamber?
