The Christmas season is upon us and this holiday is one that the White House is commemorating.

Much to the dismay of Trump critics, the White House is celebrating the Christmas season by hosting holiday parties. However, due to the presence of coronavirus, there are certain guidelines in place; these guidelines include plexiglass barriers between food, face mask usage, social distancing markers, etc.

The celebration of Christmas extends beyond just White House parties though; Christmas is a holiday that President Trump has maintained is important and worthy of celebration.

In keeping with this principle, the 45th president recently signed an executive order that designates Christmas Eve as an official holiday, according to Washington Examiner.

What this Executive Order Means for the Nation

Since Christmas Eve is now a federal holiday, the federal government is mandated to recognize it as such. This means that all federal government agencies and executive departments must close on December 24. With this change, federal employees will have Christmas Eve off work to spend their time with relatives and other loved ones.

Prior to President Trump’s executive order, federal employees were previously granted half days of work on Christmas Eve. However, the new change from President Trump has garnered positive feedback from his supporters and others who view Christmas Eve as worthy of holiday status.

Stopping the Takeover of Christmas

In past years, concerns about the left attempting to alter or take over Christmas have come up. This first became an issue when some Democrats raised concerns about the phrase “Merry Christmas.”

Leftists with this attitude declared that saying “Happy Holidays” would be more “inclusive,” although, conservatives strongly stood by the right to directly acknowledge the Christmas holiday and season.

Concerns about the left attempting to cancel Christmas are especially present amid COVID-19. Similarly to how Democrats treated Thanksgiving, the left is already discouraging people from traveling for Christmas or spending the holiday with anyone outside of their immediate household.

Nonetheless, many Americans ignored these calls for Thanksgiving; it now appears that a similar pattern will emerge over the Christmas holiday as well.
