The state of Florida continues to thrive and do well, largely due to the leadership of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Since his first term in office, DeSantis has consistently made decisions that are in keeping with Florida maintaining freedom and benefiting fiscally.
Because of how DeSantis governed, he handily secured a second term in office last year, by an almost 20-point margin. The Florida governor has also made headlines for taking clear stances on education, parental rights, and protecting the residents of his state from burdensome mandates.
Now, in 2023, Islander News reports that DeSantis is introducing some major budget amendments that could have significant impacts in Florida going ahead.
Bringing Common Sense to the Budget
Some changes that the Florida governor wants to see implemented include tax cuts worth $2 billion, a tax holiday for kids’ toys, and tax exemptions on back-to-school merchandise.
While seeking reelection, the Florida governor campaigned on further lowering costs for the people of his state. Meanwhile, as America at large wrestles with inflation, reducing taxes for Floridians will make a significant difference.
Four years ago, we promised a sound budget with $5.2 billion in reserves, $1.6 billion in the rainy day fund & $335 million in tax relief.
Today, our Framework for Freedom budget contains $15.7 billion in reserves, $3.4 billion in the rainy day fund & $2 billion in tax relief. pic.twitter.com/2nMDY3RF7S

Additional budget proposals that DeSantis wants the Florida state legislature to pass include a ban on taxes for gas stoves and tax exemptions for pet medication.
Elimination of taxes on gas stoves is especially making headlines as these appliances come under fire. This year, chatter has emerged of the left-wing working to do away with gas stoves, owing to their alleged impacts on climate change.
Critics of this pointed out that Americans across the country, including many restaurants, rely on gas stoves in order to cook and sell food.
Will It Pass?
Budget amendments proposed by the Florida governor have been lauded by many people who agree with the direction DeSantis wants to go. Nevertheless, the Florida state legislature will ultimately have the final say as to whether or not the governor’s budget proposals are put into action.
However, with the Florida House and Senate both being controlled by Republicans, DeSantis stands a good chance of getting his budget amendments enacted.
The Framework for Freedom budget will ensure Florida remains fiscally strong with low taxes, minimal debt & support for key priorities.
By providing $2 billion in toll & tax relief, the Framework for Freedom will also aid Floridians with the inflation fueled by DC over-spending. pic.twitter.com/H1ibMuTDFS

After all, it would not be the first time the Florida governor has managed to successfully work with the legislature in order to deliver for the people of his state.
Floridians, in particular, can keep an eye on updates about the budget in the weeks and months ahead. Meanwhile, DeSantis has been clear that he’ll continue going to bat for Floridians each and every time.
