For several months, Dr. Scott Atlas served as a member of the White House coronavirus task force.
Unlike Dr. Fauci, Atlas did not treat lockdowns and mask edicts as the end-all when it comes to getting control of COVID-19; as a matter of fact, Atlas actually warned against these mitigation strategies and the immense harm they cause.
In doing so, the doctor also called for more vulnerable people to self-isolate, while less vulnerable members of the population carry on about their business.
As of this morning, however, Newsmax reports that Dr. Scott Atlas has officially resigned from his post within the White House COVID-19 task force.
Everything to Know About Atlas’ Departure from the White House
Prior to Atlas’ resignation, he served as a Special Government Employee (SGE). The doctor’s resignation reportedly occurred last night, with Atlas informing President Trump of his decision to depart.
In a formal letter of resignation, Atlas declared that it’s been an “honor and privilege” to serve the nation. The doctor furthermore pointed out that reducing both harm from COVID-19 and harm from harsh restrictions were always the goals he had in mind. Following these points, Atlas’ letter maintains that the “latest science and evidence” has always guided him.

Finally, the doctor also appears to believe that Trump’s litigation of the 2020 presidential election will not change the results. Atlas wished well the “new team” coming to the White House; he also expressed an interest in this “new team” successfully leading despite “trying, polarized” conditions.
Who Will Replace Atlas on the COVID-19 Task Force?
As of now, there is no news on if or when a replacement for Atlas will arrive. News of his departure from the White House is still breaking; Americans continue taking to various social media sites to share their thoughts and opinions on this latest development.

During his tenure as a SGE, Atlas regularly took heat from the left for failing to get behind the mask-up, shut-it-down approach to COVID-19. Conservatives, on the other hand, lauded Atlas for taking a more nuanced and less one-size-fits-all attitude towards a virus that impacts different demographics in varying degrees and manners.
