The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) of 2021 has started. With many conservative speakers on the roster, the GOP is fired up with countless top Republicans in Orlando, Florida for the event.
This year’s CPAC arrives after some challenging elections for conservatives. With Biden having the White House and with Democrats controlling the Senate and the House, Republicans have work cut out. The things that are happening in politics right now, combined with the results of recent elections, are prompting Republicans to strategize for the future.
Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis is one of the speakers to deliver remarks at CPAC this year. Newsmax reports DeSantis’ statements that the “failed Republican establishment” of the past must never be permitted to make a comeback.
Governor DeSantis at CPAC 2021
The Florida Republican governor has turned into somewhat of a rising star in the GOP, due to his decision to reopen the Sunshine State. Many conservatives are praising DeSantis for getting Florida up and running again and allowing Floridian residents and businesses to thrive.
This week, the Florida governor gave a speech at CPAC. DeSantis described the Sunshine State as an “oasis of freedom” amid a country that’s fighting against restrictive, suffocating lockdowns.

After stating that Florida continues to lead on matters of importance to conservatives, DeSantis declared that the unsuccessful GOP “establishment of yesteryear” is something that Republicans can’t and won’t revert back to. The Florida GOP governor then moved to policy matters, nothing Republicans’ rejections of open borders and embrace of U.S. workers and sovereignty.
Needless to say, DeSants’ remarks were very well-welcomed by CPAC attendees and conservatives across America.
The Future for DeSantis in the Republican Party
By all accounts, the governor of Florida has a very bright future in the Republican Party. DeSantis is being widely urged to run for president in 2024 as his popularity in the GOP rises; others have even suggested that if Trump runs for re-election in 2024, DeSantis ought to be his vice-presidential candidate.
Gov. DeSantis kicks off CPAC by warning against a return to the old Republican "establishment": "We can sit around and have debates about conservative policy… but the question is, when the klieg lights get hot, when the left comes after you, do you stand strong or do you fold?

In the months and years to come, the eyes of the nation will continue to follow Florida and the results of its leadership. Many Floridians have given their governor accolades for not keeping the state shut down and for blocking fines against those who breach local face mask ordinances.
