Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida remains on a roll in general politics and in his campaign to win re-election as governor.
DeSantis has gained prominence over the past few years for bold leadership in Florida that’s attracted considerable new residents to the state.
The Republican governor has continuously stood against tyrannical COVID edicts and not allowed left-wing pressure or bullies to sway him.
As DeSantis seeks reelection, his Democratic opponent, Charlie Crist, isn’t posing much of a challenge. Crist recently shot himself in the foot upon declaring he doesn’t want (in a state with hundreds of thousands more GOP voters than Democrats) support from anyone who likes DeSantis.
Now, in a plot twist that many Americans didn’t see coming, one top Democrat in Florida has come out to endorse DeSantis, as documented by Washington Examiner.
A Strong Endorsement From Palm Beach County Commissioner Dave Kerner
This week, the Democratic commissioner announced that he’s backing the Republican governor of Florida for several reasons.
According to Kerner, DeSantis has proven himself to be worthy of public office, which is why he’ll be campaigning and voting for the Florida governor. The Palm Beach County commissioner then called out Crist for openly promising to defund the police.
Endorsing Gov. @RonDeSantisFL was the obvious choice this election cycle.

During this announcement, Kerner also thanked DeSantis for openly choosing to accept his endorsement. This marks yet another contrast against Crist who foolishly declared he’s not interested in crossover support from Floridians who like DeSantis.
Crist has, however, managed to land an endorsement from California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is not beloved in Florida by any means.
A Major Win For the Florida Governor
At this point, it’s essentially a given that DeSantis will win the votes of Florida Republicans. However, for the governor to also get crossover support furthers his already strong chances of winning the election.
DeSantis has a winning record to fall back on, including the number of new Floridians who have moved to the state because of how he’s led.
In Florida, we support law enforcement, reject the anti-police movement, and focus on justice for victims — not coddling criminals.

Kerner’s endorsement of DeSantis could very well encourage other moderate-leaning Democrats who are on the fence to vote for the Florida governor’s reelection. In a race where whoever gets the most votes wins, this ultimately boils down to a numbers game.
At the rate things are going, DeSantis’ tent of voters is getting larger and larger, while Crist is intentionally making his tent increasingly smaller. It doesn’t take a genuis to see who will make it across the finish line in November.
