Independent Support for Biden Takes a Nosedive

In many cases, the power of the Independent vote often goes unnoticed or disregarded. However, as the political climate changes in America, more people are beginning to realize that how Independents vote makes a significant difference.

More often than not, Democrats vote for Democrat candidates; the same also applies to Republicans. Most Republicans vote for GOP candidates. As partisanship intensifies in the United States, crossover support is getting rarer.

This leaves Independents with increasingly more power in elections, even if not everyone realizes this. Because Independents can vote either way, they have the power to sway elections, either boosting the votes in the favor of a Democrat or Republican candidate.

As it turns out, the increasing power of the Independent vote is bad news for President Biden. This is because the president’s support amongst Independents in the United States has taken a massive hit, amid the failed pullout from Afghanistan, as Breitbart News confirms.

Independent Voters Sour on Biden

A poll run by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist speaks volumes about where Independent voters truly stand when it comes to President Biden. 51% of Independents presently disapprove of Biden’s work as president thus far; meanwhile, only 43% of Independents declared their support for the president’s job performance.

However, when you break down Independent support for Biden himself (rather than his job performance), only 36% of Independents said they approve. According to NPR, this isn’t a good sign for Biden.

Biden got Independent support during the 2020 presidential election; however, since his time as president, that support has dwindled significantly. Even amongst Democrats, Biden’s lost support, going from 90% to now 85%.

More than seven in ten Independent voters do not approve of how the president went about removing American troops from Afghanistan. This puts most Independents in the same boat as the 94% of Republicans who also disapprove of Biden’s pullout.

Continued Buyer’s Remorse

Over the course of Biden’s time as president, there has been a growing number of Americans who voted for Biden now wishing they could take it back. The buyer’s remorse really caught attention once inflation commenced and prices went up across the board.

There’s no undoing the 2020 presidential election; however, many Americans who regret voting for Biden may not be inclined to vote for Biden’s Democrat reinforcements in Congress, many of whom are up for re-election in 2022.

Continued buyer’s remorse doesn’t bode well for when Biden will seek a second term as president in 2024. Less than eight months into the president’s term, he’s already blowing it by making stupid policy decisions and alienating American voters at every turn.
