Weeks ago, America learned that Joe Biden would be putting together a Disinformation Governance Board.
This discovery came after the Biden White House called for more regulations on social media and after former President Obama dismissed free speech rights as inapplicable to social media platforms.
However, for as much as the Biden administration claims to oppose disinformation and misinformation, they sure put out a lot of it.
It wasn’t too long ago that the White House wrote off inflation as nothing more than “transitory.” Just days ago, the Biden administration also came under fire for a tweet that incorrectly claims COVID vaccines weren’t available when Biden came into office.
Now, the president is being criticized for an erroneous tweet he made regarding inflation. This has been called out by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, of all people, according to the New York Post.
Beating Biden At His Own Game
The president’s Disinformation Governance Board is very clearly designed to go after folks who put out content that the political left deems as “disinformation.”
However, Bezos believes the president should also be accountable for what he’s disseminating online.
Recently, Biden tweeted out that the solution to ending inflation involves wealthy corporations paying what is “their fair share” in taxes.
The newly created Disinformation Board should review this tweet, or maybe they need to form a new Non Sequitur Board instead. Raising corp taxes is fine to discuss. Taming inflation is critical to discuss. Mushing them together is just misdirection. https://t.co/ye4XiNNc2v

Bezos pushed back against this. According to the Amazon founder, conflating lowering inflation with raising corporate taxes is a form of “misdirection.”
Therefore, Bezos urged the Disinformation Governance Board to either establish a “Non-Sequitur Board” or “review” the Twitter post released by the president.
Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely that this board will actually be applied equally and fairly as Bezos is calling for.
The Disinformation Governance Board is being formed under a left-wing administration, along with being operated and headed by left-wing officials.
Many conservatives have called for the abolition of this board altogether, on the basis of it being unconstitutional.
The Truth About “Misinformation” and “Disinformation”
There is a real difference between faulty information being distributed vs. the political left coming across content that it does not like.
Unfortunately, the latter has been set as the standard for “misinformation” and “disinformation” these days.
When Joe Rogan uses his podcast to have on guests who question COVID vaccines (which demonstrably do not prevent COVID infection or spread), this isn’t the distribution of faulty information.
We previously misstated that vaccines were unavailable in January 2021. We should have said that they were not widely available.
Vaccines became available shortly before the President came into office. Since then, he’s responsible for fully vaccinating over 200 million people. https://t.co/rHJ0GZ63Dy

However, when the White House tweets out that COVID vaccines were “not available” when the current president assumed office, this is “misinformation” and/or “disinformation.”
Many Americans believe Democrats should hold themselves to their own standards before organizing to police the speech of others.
