Los Angeles Dodgers Land in the Hot Seat

In recent years, there’s been an unfortunate pattern of various companies landing in trouble for taking heated stances on political and social matters.

These matters tend to be controversial by nature, meaning it’s virtually impossible for large companies to step in without offending a significant percentage of their consumers.

Many Americans advise these companies to stay out of politics and culture wars. Businesses have also been told to simply focus on selling whatever products or services they’re known for. However, this isn’t happening.

The latest incident with the Los Angeles Dodgers is a prime example, as documented by Red State.

Another Preventable PR Disaster

The Los Angeles Dodgers landed in the hot seat, amid the choice to embrace the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

As many Americans are aware, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are known for making a mockery of religious Catholicism. This often happens with members of the group dressing up as nuns, simulating sex acts, and otherwise going against what the Catholic church stands for.

Of course, this doesn’t go over well with many Dodgers fans, who also happen to be religious Christians themselves. Why the Dodgers would open this can of worms is a mystery to many Americans.

National Pushback

By rolling out the red carpet for the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Los Angeles Dodgers brought problems upon themselves and they now have to face the music.

Social media is now overflowing with demands for people of faith to boycott the Dodgers altogether. Likewise, other folks are swearing off the group, saying they can’t be supportive of anything that openly mocks religion and the Catholic faith in this manner.

Of course, the Los Angeles Dodgers did this to themselves, seemingly choosing to spit in the faces of their own customers for no reason whatsoever. It remains to be seen if other sporting groups make the same mistake.
