Man Who Put Out Hit on ICE Agents Acquitted

What’s the difference between saying “I hope you get run over by a bus” and “You there! I’ll give you $100 to go shove that guy in front of that bus?” According to a federal jury in Massachusetts, nothing. Except, in this case, it was worse.

Brandon Ziobrowski took to Twitter one day and placed an open-ended bounty on agents of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

One would think he’d be spending a few years in a cage reconsidering what he put out on social media.

What came next can only be viewed as a harsh dismissal of the value of the lives of the men and women who protect this country. A group of people allowed themselves to be conned by a smooth-talking serpent defense attorney. The lawyer argued that this was speech protected under the First Amendment.

Whether this was jury-nullification which, in effect, validates this kind of reprehensible action or simply a facet of poor prosecution by the government attorney, we may never know.

However, when this is coupled with the physical attacks and assassinations of police taking place across America, this doesn’t bode well for the future.
