In a new blow to the vile ideology and practice of abortion, the Republican-led state of Utah has adopted a new law that bans Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics. It prohibits any abortion after 18 weeks of pregnancy, thus saving the lives of millions of unborn children.
Killing Off the Abortion Clinics
Some two dozen states nationwide have adopted full or partial bans on the murder of unborn infants since June 2022. SCOTUS rescinded the Roe right to unlimited abortion and once again turn abortion into a state-level issue.
The new pro-life bill in Utah, which was signed this week by the state’s GOP governor, Spencer Cox, banned abortions after the 18th week of pregnancies. It also banned existing abortion clinics from getting new licenses, The Blaze reported.
Utah’s new anti-abortion law called H.B. 467 was passed by the Republican majorities in the state Senate and state House on March 2 and March 3, respectively. It obliges abortion clinics in Utah to shut down by the end of 2023 or earlier if their licensees happen to expire before December 31.
Utah’s new law comes after a previous bill banning abortion in the state completely got blocked in court, leaving in place the practice of killing unborn babies up to 18 weeks of pregnancy.
However, the new legislation stipulates that abortions within that time frame can be performed only in hospitals, with a few exceptions. Besides prohibiting the existence of abortion clinics in Utah past January 1, 2024, the bill also bans their licensing after May 2, 2023.
The law bans abortion after 18 weeks of pregnancy even if the pregnancy was conceived through rape or incest.
The legislation, also known as the Abortion Changes bill, requires a physician’s recommendations for perinatal care services in the event of a lethal fetal anomaly diagnosis.

Planned Parenthood Seeks Loopholes
Utah’s new anti-abortion law has infuriated leftists. Planned Parenthood in the state declared it would seek a way to circumvent the law, respectively, the democratic will of its people. The report points out that Democrats in the state legislature made multiple attempts to kill, block, or soften the bill sponsored by state Rep. Karianne Lisbonbee. However, the GOP majorities in both chambers crushed the leftist onslaughts.
The caucus of the Utah Senate Democrats fumed that the new law was “effectively a ban” on any abortions in the state as it is “forcing parents” to resort to “hospital settings only.”
In a speech in February, the bill’s Republican sponsor Lisbonbee declared that Utah’s tradition of “protecting the unborn” went back to “before statehood.” She added her state had “compassionate exemptions” and services to help everyone depending on the situation.
The GOP state lawmaker also said her bill “strikes” the best balance between protecting both innocent life and women in dangerous circumstances.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the CEO of the Utah Planned Parenthood Association, Karrie Galloway, said her organization was seeking ways to “preserve access to abortion.”
