(WatchDogNews.org) – Earlier this week, Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) became the only member of his party to vote to convict President Donald Trump. The failed 2012 presidential candidate sided with Democrats on the abuse of power charge. After his vote, Mississippi State Coach Mike Leach slammed the senator on Twitter:
And we’re back to “just asking the question” and “debate me” at 3 am pic.twitter.com/HtqlNliTJR

This isn’t the first time Leach has defended Trump. In 2016, while he was head coach at Washington State, he attended one of Trump’s campaign rallies.
The coach later deleted his Romney tweets. When USA Today asked him why, he said he was just asking questions. Leach further explained he took the tweets down because they were “drawing more attention than it deserved.”
As a private citizen, Leach is well within his rights to both support his president and ask questions about a member of the legislature.
