It’s no secret that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Trump have long been enemies. During Trump’s time in the White House, Pelosi consistently opposed his agenda in Congress. At least once, this triggered a shutdown of the government.
Over the course of years, the House Speaker and former president regularly take shots at one another in the public eye. With Trump now out of office, this hasn’t changed at all.
When Pelosi isn’t gushing over how great she thinks Joe Biden is doing as president, she’s occasionally weighing in with her views about Trump, especially when asked.
During a new interview earlier this week, Pelosi said Trump lacked the “courage” to come to Capitol Hill as January 6 rioters were attempting to breach the premises, per Washington Examiner.
The Latest From Pelosi on Trump
While speaking with MSNBC, the House Speaker was questioned about leaked footage that showed her threatening to punch the former president in the face if he dared to enter the Capitol during January 6.
When asked if she would have really done this, Pelosi said Trump is “all talk” and wouldn’t have been courageous enough to come to the Capitol.

Later, the House Speaker claimed that Americans shouldn’t be casual about members of the GOP posing threats against the country’s democracy.
While many Republicans criticized Pelosi for threatening to punch out the ex-president, Democrats predictably cheered her on for it.
Other Commentary From Pelosi
As the midterm elections wrap up, the House Speaker continues to share her thoughts about what she thinks will happen next month.
Pelosi, according to her own account, believes Democrats are going to keep the House of Representatives and win the midterms overall.
Meanwhile, polling shows that Democrats are most likely to lose the House and potentially the Senate as well. In House races, Democrats have largely lost ground in districts that were traditionally favorable to them.

Even in Senate races, Democratic candidates who had leads are either losing these leads or now trailing Republican candidates.
Of course, it’s reasonable to assume that Pelosi, if even she did believe her party was going to lose the midterms, isn’t going to announce this before the whole nation.
If and when Republicans win the House of Representatives, this will officially put an end to Pelosi’s reign as Speaker of the House. Thus far, Pelosi’s most likely successor for this position is House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
