PELOSI’S FINAL SPEECH: Not What Anyone Expected…

US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced she is retiring as Democratic Party leader in the wake of the Democrats’ loss of the chamber in the 2022 midterm election.

But she didn’t go without taking a vicious swipe at Donald Trump by pretending that he never was President of the United States.

Pelosi Threatens Trump

Nancy Pelosi announced her stepping down as leader of the House Democrats in a 14-minute speech on the House floor in Washington, DC, on Thursday, including saying Trump will be “expunged from history.”

Her announcement came after the Republicans clinched a majority of 218 members in the House of Representatives in last week’s midterms, while the Democrats secured 212 seats, with five seats still up in the air.

With the Democrats’ loss of the midterms, Pelosi wouldn’t have a shot at remaining Speaker anyway when the new Congress convenes in January.

The outgoing Democrat leader made it clear she would stay on as a regular member of the House representing her congressional district, which includes most of San Francisco, California.

Before the midterms, when a red wave was predicted, Pelosi performed a face-saving “preemptive strike” as she toyed with the idea of quitting both Congress and politics altogether after the election, arguing it could be because of the recent attack on her husband, Paul Pelosi in their San Francisco home.

As the Democrats’ loss in the midterms wasn’t as definite as Pelosi had feared, she didn’t see herself forced to quit everything altogether.

The 82-year-old Democrat’s new term will be her 19th, as she has served in the House of Representatives since 1987 for nearly 36 years.

Pelosi became the House Democrats’ leader in 2003 and served as Speaker from 2009-2011 and now since 2019.

Even as she announced her decision to retire as the leader, Pelosi didn’t miss the chance for a vicious swipe at former President Donald Trump.

In her speech, she celebrated her work with three US presidents – George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden – even though her tenure as Democrat House leader saw four, thus omitting Donald Trump as though he was never even in the White House ever.

The feeling seemed mutual as most Republican members of the House weren’t even present for her speech anyway.

A Democrat Sob Fest

As she declared she was quitting as House leader of the Democrats after 19 years at the job, Nancy Pelosi stated she would make way for a “new generation” of lefty leaders. 

According to the report, her presumed successor as the top Democratic Party House member will be New York US Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.

In her speech, the outgoing House Speaker described the moment she saw the US Capitol for the first time when her father got elected to Congress, and she was six years old.

Nancy Pelosi thanked her multimillionaire husband Paul, also 82, for his support, without mentioning the recent attack in which an illegal immigrant mental health patient cracked his skull with a hammer.

After Pelosi ended her speech, other Democrats rushed to give her hugs on the House floor after giving her standing ovations several times, many of them.

Only about a dozen Republicans were present during Pelosi’s remarks, including Steve Scalise, the GOP’s Number Two in the chamber, who also applauded her. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who is running to become the next Speaker, was absent.
