(WatchDogNews.org) – Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is in hot water again. This time US veterans are angry with her.
Over the weekend, Omar suggested all Americans should be eligible for the G.I. Bill. The bill pays for college for service members and their families.
“Imagine what it would do for our country and those who live here if we were to take the ethos behind the original G.I. Bill and apply it to everybody—canceling all student debt and making public colleges, universities, and vocational schools tuition-free.” 💪🏽 https://t.co/P6LNRv6h9w

Veterans immediately responded to the outrageous suggestion and pointed out that not only is she missing the point of the bill, but it’s already available to all citizens:
Everybody is already entitled to the GI Bill. All they have to do to get it is serve our great nation. If they don’t want to do that, then they don’t deserve it.

Another veteran and former congressional candidate, Chris Manning, pointed out the bill is not actually free:
I'm a recipient of the GI Bill. The GI Bill was earned by agreeing to serve my country for six years and to put my life at risk as an infantryman in Afghanistan. It wasn't something just given to me with nothing expected in return. Don't cheapen our sacrifice w/ this comparison. pic.twitter.com/4CNspm8gXt

That’s right. If Omar and her constituents would like to get in on some of that college action, all they have to do is go to their local recruiting office. Instead of holding their hands out they could, oh, maybe earn it.
