Towards the end of January 2021, former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders announced her run in the Arkansas gubernatorial race. In her online video announcement, Sanders talked about her policies, love for Arkansas, and her commitment to upholding American freedoms and conservative values.
Sanders has gotten many accolades from Republicans and conservatives since this announcement. Former President Donald Trump endorsed Sanders and various conservative activists, such as Scott Presler, expressed an interest in helping Sanders win the election.
According to Washington Examiner, Sanders’ run for Arkansas governor is looking pretty good thus far.
Sarah Sanders for Governor of Arkansas
As things currently stand, Sanders seems prime to make it through the GOP primary in Arkansas. As a candidate for Arkansas governor, Sanders has already fended off a challenge from Republican Tim Griffin, the current lieutenant governor of Arkansas.
Tim Griffin has been a strong voice for Arkansas and I look forward to working with him to unite our party and make our state better. I wish Tim and his family the very best. https://t.co/KBHx1d1Ez7

Griffin, in a statement, announced that rather than running for Arkansas governor, he will instead seek to put his “bold, conservative leadership” to better use as the attorney general of Arkansas.
The lieutenant governor’s decision to bow out of the Arkansas gubernatorial race shows that Sanders’ name and established history as a member of the Trump administration makes her quite a formidable candidate.
Uniting the Republican Party
While Sanders is running for governor of Arkansas, she is also very much interested in bringing together the GOP. In the announcement video for her candidacy, the former White House press secretary explained that fighting for conservative principles is more important than ever, especially with the current White House administration.
Sanders also noted that Republican governors now serve as the last line of defense against congressional Democrats and the 46th president. A critical part of unifying the GOP will involve getting trusted Republicans elected into office and positions of power.

Trump’s endorsement of Sanders has greatly benefited her campaign and increased her likelihood of becoming Arkansas’ next governor. The Trump endorsement furthermore speaks to the significance of Trump’s power and impact within the GOP. This is something that will make a huge difference as more Republicans seek office in future elections to come.
