Since securing the role of House Speaker last month, Rep. Kevin McCarthy has been regularly in the news. Speaker McCarthy’s new leadership role arrived after Republicans won the majority in the House of Representatives and then elected him after 15 separate votes.
On many different occasions, McCarthy has found himself asked by the press about his decisions regarding committee assignments, the conduct of House Republicans, and more.
Though right now, the House Speaker is capturing national attention for a different reason. This time, that reason pertains to new footage from the January 6 riot in 2021. This is footage that McCarthy handed over to Fox News host Tucker Carlson, per The Blaze.
What to Know About the Footage
The footage that was handed over by the House Speaker contains over 40,000 hours of the US Capitol being stormed by January 6 demonstrators. In this content are various angles of the breach, along with the individuals involved.
Carlson, for his part, has happily accepted the footage from the House Speaker. It is Carlson’s view that the footage of what happened over two years ago never needed to remain under lock and key.

As a matter of fact, Americans who watch Fox News may very well see parts of the footage turned over by the House Speaker on Carlson’s show. This content is something the Fox News anchor believes the people of this country deserve to be fully aware of.
Some Democrats have used social media to criticize the House Speaker for allowing Fox News to have access to this footage.
Though folks who agree with McCarthy questioned why any person with integrity wouldn’t want Americans to get a real look at the footage of what transpired on January 6.
Throughout the remainder of his time as House Speaker, McCarthy can expect more and more eyes on him. At the start of last month, it was questionable as to whether or not McCarthy would even get this role, due to some Republicans who were initially opposing him.
Now that Speaker McCarthy has finally settled in, Americans are observing how he leads, the decisions he makes, and how the House GOP caucus fares with him representing it.
