The Military is Having a Huge, New, and Unexpected Problem

The US military has many problems to worry about, including growing threats from China and Russia.

Whereas it also has a new problem that’s coming unexpectedly and making officials scratch their heads and sigh in frustration. The problem? It can’t find enough new recruits who want to sign up for a military career.

Why is This Happening?

The recruitment shortage is becoming quite serious. The US Army, for example, is 30,000 soldiers short in terms of its recruitment drive this year. That’s a lot of unused uniforms and untapped potential.

The Department of Defense (DoD) has a profound issue here. This is the worst crisis in finding new recruits since the Vietnam War ended in 1975.

According to the liberal media, one of the reasons is enlistees are worried to be put on base in GOP-run states with abortion restrictions. Yes, that is seriously what many articles are pointing out as the reason.

In reality, of course, the reasons for the recruitment shortfall across the branches are much more in the opposite direction.

The truth is that the current Biden-flation, coupled with insane woke policies and vaccine mandate-infested bureaucracy, is causing many new enlistees to take pause.

People join the military to serve America and have a good career. If America’s become a rainbow clown show and the money’s only worth 65% of what it was a few years ago, that tends to make people take pause and do something else instead.

‘No Sunlight’ Ahead

As Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York have commented, there is “no sunlight” visible down the road on this issue, which is only getting worse as the months go by.

The usual perks which get people to boot camp, like the GI bill, are fading in their ability to attract new people. It’s not clear that hiking up other benefits or payments will also do the trick at this point.

The enthusiasm for joining the military truly seems to have decreased across the country and for many individuals of all political demographic backgrounds.

The Military Needs To Wake Up

The military bureaucracy is stifling the fighting spirit of its members.

Watching people like General Mark Milley wade into the culture wars and emerge as an anti-Trump blowhard has done incalculable damage, especially as so much of the core of the military comes from the heartland and South.

The problems are very real here: the National Guard is looking at being 6,000 recruits short, the Air National Guard will be 3,000 short, and other branches are also getting increasingly worried.

It’s time to wake up instead of getting woke up. The military needs to be patriotic, unified, and professional; that means shutting all woke nonsense out 100%.
