Tucker Carlson Slams Zelensky’s Visit to Washington DC

On Wednesday, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky traveled to Washington DC. During this trip, he met with Joe Biden and held a press conference with him.

Throughout this press conference, both presidents talked about issues facing the world, especially as it pertains to Russia’s assault on Ukraine. Biden also recently pledged new weapons to Ukraine in order to aid them in the fight against Russia.

Zelensky’s visit yesterday also involved him giving an address to the nation’s congressional lawmakers. The Ukrainian president was well-received by many, getting lots of applause, handshakes, hugs, and even a kiss from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

However, one person who is not pleased about this visit is Fox News host Tucker Carlson, according to Yahoo News.

Carlson on Zelensky’s Visit to DC

During his Fox News segment, Carlson claimed that Zelensky appeared at the nation’s capital in attire that resembles a “strip club owner.”

From there, he also ripped into America’s “aging leadership class” over their willingness to give Ukraine “billions” from what Carlson described as our own country’s “crumbling economy.”

Later on, the Fox News host described it as “humiliating” for America to have Zelensky wearing a sweatshirt and getting our country to agree to handing over more money to his own.

Ultimately, it is Carlson’s view that America has done more than enough when it comes to giving weapons and funds over to Ukraine. However, Biden has shown no willingness to cut off these aid streams anytime soon.

Mixed Feedback

There is no doubt that some Americans agreed with the points Tucker Carlson made on Fox News last night. People with this school of thought have also argued that America needs to worry more about its own borders and financial issues than those of Ukraine’s.

Nevertheless, Carlson also faced some criticism for his remarks. Certain news outlets said the Fox News host’s remarks were bizarre and conspiratorial. Some Americans said they liked Zelensky’s speech before Congress, viewing it as hopeful and inspirational.

However, people from all parts of the political spectrum took to social media to share their thoughts about Zelensky’s time in DC and its greater implications for America, Ukraine, and the rest of the world.

At this time, it remains to be seen just how much more aid actually goes to Ukraine in 2023. This upcoming February will mark one full year since Russian dictator Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine in what he thought would be an easy takeover.

Zelensky has maintained that he and the people of Ukraine will never give into Russia’s invasion.
