Shelter at the Plant
In a video message, Zelensky reiterated his charges that Russia is employing the ZNPP as a nuclear threat against Europe.
He also asserted, as he has done previously, that invading Russian soldiers are shooting from posts within and around the nuclear facility.
He underlined a new danger for Russian soldiers who were working inside the nuclear complex by stating Ukrainian forces will now aim their fire at those personnel.

He warned every Russian military officer who even shoots at the plant or shoots under the canopy of the plant must fully comprehend he becomes a key target for their intelligence, for their special services, and for their army.
The Ukrainian government vehemently denied any involvement in the latest strikes on the facility and instead accused Russian soldiers of carrying out the attacks itself.
In July, Russian officials stated their country had been the target of attacks by drones armed with kamikaze missiles.
Ukraine has leveled the accusation that Russia converted the ZNPP into a military post and is exploiting the potential for a nuclear disaster as a cover for its soldiers.
The CEO of Energoatom, Petro Kotin, stated in an interview with the BBC that there are around 500 Russian soldiers stationed at the installation.
These soldiers are armed with rocket launchers; they fire at Ukrainian troops from the plant. According to the BBC’s investigation, the organization was unable to independently verify the accusations.
Blaming Ukraine and Assessment of the Facility
The shelling of the nuclear facility has been blamed on both Russia and Ukraine. The International Atomic Energy Agency warned it created a “very serious risk of a nuclear accident.”
On his Telegram channel, Vladimir Rogov, a councilman for Russia’s Civil-Military Administration in the Zaporizhzhia region, reported the facility has been the target of nearly daily strikes for the last week.
He made the announcement under the heading “Energodar’s terror from UkroReich or ‘They fired at themselves,'” where Energodar is the city that is connected to the facility.
The council member says Ukrainians are the ones behind all of the attacks that have been made on the plant. At the end of the previous week, IAEA Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi reported the facility was in good shape.
He told the UN Security Council that based on the latest info supplied by Ukraine, IAEA specialists have an initial estimate that there is no active danger to nuclear safeness as a result of the shelling or any other recent military actions.
Having said that, this is subject to change at any time. He requested all parties to this armed conflict work together with the IAEA and provide permission for a mission to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant as quickly as feasible.
